Furlough Day—Remember that next Friday, September 3, 2010, is our first furlough day—there is no school for students because this is a day teachers will not be working due to budget cuts. This will give you a 4 day weekend with your children—enjoy and be back at school Tuesday, September 7, 2010 ready for school.
Back to School Nights—We had a wonderful back to school night last night with 5th – 8th grade families. Thanks to all of you that were able to attend and listen to the teachers explain about this school year. PTA was in the cafeteria with a wonderful bake sale, PTA membership table, and book fair. If your student is in K-4th grade be sure to attend tonight beginning at 6:30 on the field.
Rubber Duck Race Fundraiser—We have a fundraiser for our school that is easy to do and does not cost very much money (and you might win some great prizes). It costs $5.00 to adopt a rubber duck and you can go to the website to adopt now or you can wait for the flyer that will be coming home on Monday with your students. The website is www.duckrace.com/antelopevalley; adopt under teams (choose Hughes Elizabeth Lakes) adopt under the principal name (Diane Parkins) and then it will walk you through the rest. Planners—There are still a few planners left in the office if your child would like to purchase one to keep track of important dates and assignments. The cost is $6.00, cash only.
